  The Pacific Palisades Library is holding a holiday parking lot book sale on Saturday, November 23 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, featuring children's books, cookbooks, fiction, nonfiction, and coffee table books, with proceeds supporting library acquisitions. The sale will be rescheduled to December 7 in case of rain.

  Author Donna Rifkind discusses her book about Salka Viertel, a screenwriter and refugee advocate in Hollywood's Golden Age who helped arrange passage and employment for Jewish and anti-fascist refugees fleeing Nazi Europe. The event features Rifkind, a longtime book reviewer for major publications, discussing Viertel's life as an immigrant artist who became best friends with Greta Garbo and hosted influential European intellectuals at her Santa Monica Canyon home.
