Capt. Tom Message; News & Events
Message from Capt. Jonathan Tom,
LAPD West Division Commander
(received by PPCC Chair David Card)
As a valued stakeholder in the West LA community, I wanted to reach out to you directly regarding LAPD’s operational stance for the next 24 hours.
In preparation for the inauguration of our new President, the LAPD is heavily deployed with an emphasis on high visibility patrol. You may see our black and whites driving throughout the division with their rear facing amber lights on. All units have been directed to patrol with those lights on to increase their visibility in an effort to discourage unlawful activity. We have deployed additional resources to the field during this time and are prepared to respond to any unexpected events.
We are also speaking with our security and intelligence partners and have received no information about planned attacks or civil unrest in the City.
T
he red flag advisory has been lifted.
There are no significant events planned for today within the City.
The only events today in west bureau are maskless protests in Wilshire and Olympic division.
There are no events planned in West LA that we are aware of.
The bureau has a significant number of officers available to respond to any incidents that arise and has an ability to quickly call up additional officers should that be necessary.
Please reassure your fellow community members that LAPD and specifically West LA are conducting extra patrols around our critical sites.
Sincerely,
Captain Jonathan Tom

Vaccination Appointments Update
LA County
reports: "
VaccinateLACounty.com
’s reservation system is part of a statewide system, which went down for several hours Tuesday afternoon. Thousands of individuals were nevertheless able to schedule vaccination appointments and at this time there are no more appointment slots available at County sites. While we are continuing to work with our state partners to improve the functionality of the website, we ask for the public’s patience as we build capacity and supply.
In addition, we are increasing capacity in our call center, beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, in order to assist those without computer access. Residents can call 833-540-0473 between 8:00 am and 8:30 pm 7 days a week.
We apologize for the inconvenience to our residents during the system’s first hours of operation, and encourage the public to continue to check
VaccinateLACounty.com
frequently for updates on vaccination appointment availability for eligible residents. We are likely to add additional appointments later this week.
