Reflections . . . and Welcome to 2026!
As we enter 2026 with energy, enthusiasm, and hope for the renewal and recovery of our beloved Pacific Palisades, PPCC reflects on the
“annus horribilis”
that was 2025:
From . . .
-- Emailing PPCC's first shell-shocked bulletin to the community after the unimaginable tragedy, on
January 8, 2025
. . .
To . . .
-- Including the rallying cry
Palisades Strong!,
for the first time, in our
January 11
bulletin . . . and continually signing off with the encouraging phrase in our messages ever since;
-- Sending over
120 additional informative bulletins
to the community, from January through December 2025 (an average of 10 bulletins a month – hard to believe!);
-- Holding almost
24 public PPCC meetings
, starting on January 23, 2025 (as soon as possible after the fire), featuring important
speakers on numerous occasions
, who provided knowledge, insight and critical information in the fire’s aftermath;
-- Maintaining and updating PPCC’s website with
listings of key fire resources
to help fellow Palisadians navigate rebuilding, wellness and recovery;
-- Forming and supporting important PPCC ad hoc committees –
Land Use
,
Rebuild
,
Grants
,
Infrastructure
– to research, review, manage, recommend and advise the Board on issues and topics of vital significance to the community . . . including the PPCC-NORC Community Survey (report on results coming soon) and the many grants recommended and made to worthy organizations and individuals to advance fire recovery;
-- Working closely with federal, state, county and city officials and agencies, and advocating PPCC’s positions related to fire recovery in
over 40 PPCC letters, motions and statements
. . . as well as in myriad emails, meetings and phone calls;
-- Maintaining and strengthening relationships not only with PPCC’s own valued
member organizations
, but also with longstanding Palisades associations and new
community organizations
formed in the fire’s aftermath;
-- Welcoming the support of our neighborhood and community council colleagues on the
Westside Regional Alliance of Councils
(WRAC) . . . who generously donated supplies and services to fire victims and joined with us in passing motions to advance fire recovery;
-- Proudly
honoring the many volunteers
and organizations whose efforts were key to the Palisades’ return . . . thanking our amazing Councilwoman Traci Park and her indefatigable Palisades Deputy Arus Grigoryan for providing critical assistance and support throughout the year . . . and continuing the annual PPCC tradition of holding a festive and successful
Awards Gala
to celebrate the Honorees’ achievements and the community’s first steps at recovery;
-- Devoting countless volunteer hours behind the scenes with our officers and other members fulfilling responsibilities to the Board and community . . . and elected PPCC representatives not missing a beat in addressing constituent issues and needs . . . all the while managing the challenges of evacuation, displacement, loss of homes and relocation;
-- Last but not least . . . Our dedicated President ably representing PPCC and the community at countless meetings, at public events (including the Rose Parade!) and in press and media interviews, while presiding calmly and efficiently over the many PPCC meetings in 2025, despite her own losses and challenges . . . .
PPCC has been a constant, reliable, and responsible resource and presence, as slowly, surely, bravely, and against all odds, the Palisades community embarked in 2025 on our
shared journey of rebuilding and renewal.
PPCC will continue to be there for the community in 2026.
