The Honorable Lee Zeldin
Commissioner, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Washington, D.C.
Via email to Thomas Corlett, Chief of Staff to Commissioner Zeldin
Dear EPA Commissioner Zeldin:
Since its founding in 1973, Pacific Palisades Community Council (PPCC) has been and remains the most broad-
based organization in Pacific Palisades – the community that was devastated by the Palisades Fire in January 2025
and is now embarking on rebuilding and recovery.
Acting on behalf of the PPCC Board,1 the PPCC Executive Committee advises that PPCC strongly supports and
concurs with the letter (Federal Support Request) signed by numerous Pacific Palisades community
members that was submitted to you on March 6, 2026.
Several PPCC Board and Executive Committee members in their personal capacities are signatories to the letter,
and the full Board by consensus opinion has now indicated its support.
The Executive Committee in particular highlights the letter’s conclusion that the Palisades community “urgently
need federal financial assistance and leadership to cut through bureaucratic delays, align agencies, and accelerate
rebuilding so residents can return home, businesses can reopen, and our community can fully recover.”
Thank you very much for your leadership and ongoing support for Pacific Palisades.
With appreciation,
Sincerely,
Pacific Palisades Community Council
Executive Committee: Sue Kohl, President; Quentin Fleming, Vice-President; Jenny Li, Treasurer;
Beth Holden Garland, Secretary; Maryam Zar, Chair Emeritus; Christina Spitz, Elected Representative
(At-large); John Padden, Organizational Representative (P.R.I.D.E.)

Hon. Karen Bass, Mayor, City of Los Angeles; Hon. Traci Park, City Councilwoman, CD 11
1 PPCC’s bylaws authorize the Executive Committee to act on behalf of the Board when there is no time for the Board to take
action; in this case it was not feasible to schedule a formal Board meeting before the EPA’s March 11th deadline to submit
PPCC’s concurrence with the March 6th letter. An informal poll of PPCC Board opinion was therefore taken, which indicated
strong consensus support for the letter and provided guidance and further support for the concurrence position expressed
by the Executive Committee in this letter.
