  The Pacific Palisades Community Council requests collaboration between state and local elected officials to secure an agreement between the City of Los Angeles and Caltrans to enable construction of the Lateral Trail, which will connect George Wolfberg Park to Temescal Canyon Road and is funded with $1.15 million secured by Congressman Ted Lieu. The trail is required by the Coastal Commission permit and is intended to provide safe coastal access.

  The Pacific Palisades Community Council held its January 12, 2023 meeting via Zoom, during which the board approved previous minutes, heard presentations from the 3-1-1 Call Center director about city services, and received reports from LAPD, County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath's office, Councilmember Traci Park's office, and various community advisors on topics including crime statistics, homelessness, park issues, and infrastructure concerns. The board also announced upcoming events including the American Legion Grand Opening on January 28th and a homeless count volunteer opportunity on January 25th.

  The Pacific Palisades Community Council unanimously voted to urge the City of Los Angeles to install conspicuous signage at George Wolfberg Park in Potrero Canyon with specific safety rules and regulations, and to maintain park hours from sunrise to sunset with automatic trilogy gates rather than the proposed extended hours until 10:30pm. The council also requested that the city coordinate with LAPD to determine strategic sign placement locations prior to the park's December 3, 2022 opening.

  

• Cannabis Letter - 2022

  The Pacific Palisades Community Council voted on October 13, 2022, to support the Brentwood Community Council's call for review of a cannabis dispensary permitted to operate near a middle school and family-oriented commercial center, and urged the Los Angeles City Attorney to implement a conditional use permit process for cannabis retailers similar to that required for alcohol sales.

  The Pacific Palisades Community Council unanimously voted to urge Councilmember Bonin to promptly implement Council File 10-1058-S4 to close a zoning loophole that allows incompatible large homes (up to 45 feet tall with 3:1 floor area ratio) in R-1 non-hillside coastal areas by extending the Baseline Mansionization Ordinance to these zones. The Council requests that the City Attorney and Planning Department report back with a proposal by March 3, 2022, and seeks a six-month extension of the Council File deadline.

  The Pacific Palisades Community Council submitted a public comment to the Los Angeles County Citizens Redistricting Commission supporting Draft Plan D-1 as the first choice and Draft Plan A-1 as the second choice for County Supervisorial District 3, citing shared interests and concerns with neighboring communities in fire hazard zones. The council emphasized that Draft Plan D-1 most closely resembles the current configuration of District 3.

  The Pacific Palisades Community Council submitted a comment on the Notice of Preparation for the I-405 Sepulveda Pass Express Lanes Project, requesting that Metro evaluate potential traffic effects on Sunset Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway, which are critical evacuation and emergency response routes for the community. The request was made to ensure public safety assessment given Pacific Palisades' location in a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone with limited ingress and egress routes.
