The Pacific Palisades Community Council submitted a letter to the City of Los Angeles Zoning Administrator and Office of Environmental Planning requesting a Focused Environmental Impact Report for a proposed multi-family residential development at 16990-17009 W. Sunset Boulevard, citing concerns raised by independent geologists regarding hydrology, groundwater flow calculations, and the adequacy of mitigation measures in the 2013 Mitigated Negative Declaration. The Council requested the EIR expand to include assessments of geology, soils, hydrology, haul routes, traffic, storm drain/sewer access, and Torrey Pines, as well as review of Coastal Commission compliance.

The Internal Revenue Service confirmed that Pacific Palisades Community Council maintains its tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, originally recognized in September 1974, and is not classified as a private foundation. Donors may deduct contributions to the organization, and bequests and gifts are deductible for Federal estate and gift tax purposes.
