Palisades Fire 2025Urban ForestRebuild & Recovery
The Pacific Palisades Civic League suspended its review and approval process for rebuilds of structures damaged or destroyed by the Palisades Fire in Tract 9300 to simplify community reconstruction, noting that Los Angeles zoning regulations and Mayor Bass's executive orders now provide similar oversight and expedited review processes. Residents must still comply with city building and planning department requirements.

California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara issued a notice on February 14, 2025, directing all insurance companies to continue providing Additional Living Expenses coverage for policyholders whose homes are uninhabitable due to health and safety hazards from the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, including fire debris, ash, and contamination risks identified by Los Angeles County Public Health. The notice clarifies that insurers must exercise due diligence in determining habitability and cannot terminate coverage solely because an area is accessible, particularly while the County's Public Health Advisory remains in effect.
