    The California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection is considering a draft regulation requiring property owners in fire-prone areas to maintain a defensible space called Zone 0 within five feet of buildings, with requirements including removal of combustible vegetation and materials, phased enforcement over three years for existing structures, and immediate application to new construction. The Board is seeking public input on four vegetation options and two tree options for Zone 0 compliance.

    A June 8th LAX/Community Noise Round Table meeting presented results of the North Downwind Arrival Study, which analyzed aircraft operations data from 2010-2015 to investigate increased noise complaints since October 2015. The study found a 22% increase in aircraft operations, changes in fleet mix toward larger aircraft, and temporary flight track variations in 2014-2015, though altitudes remained largely unchanged and no single explanation for the complaint increase was identified.
